Mardesia Reed Patterson, born on November 4, 1915, in Ocoee, Florida, was a beloved member of her community and family. She was the cherished daughter of Arphenia Reed Bookman and Sylvester Reed. On October 14, 1948, she married Charlie Lee Patterson in Charlton, Georgia, who preceded her in death. Together, they had a son, Charles Ricky Patterson, Jr.
Mardesia was a devoted member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E Church, where she actively participated in the senior choir and served on the Stewardess Board. Her commitment to her faith and community was further exemplified by her role as Worthy Matron of Martha Chapter #214 OES, a position later held by her goddaughter, Mary Debose.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her son, Ricky Patterson; granddaughter, Cynethia Patterson; son-in-law, Calbert Small; grandson, Charles Ricky Patterson, Jr. and his wife Suzie; great-grandson, Devonte Patterson; nephews, Anthony "Bobby" Taylor and William "Bill" Langley and his wife Pamela; brother, Cab Bookman; goddaughter, Mary Debose; and a dear friend, Cassandra Robinson. Her extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mardesia's life was a testament to her faith, love, and dedication to her family and community. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
