Rev. David Rix, Pastor

Katherine Warthen was born on June 6, 1940, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Willie Bell Taylor and Ben Warthen. She received her education through the Emanuel County school system.

In 1958, Katherine married Jessie Lee Labor in Soperton, Georgia.

Katherine had  three children : one son and two daughters. Katherine relocated to Bushnell, Florida, in the 1960s, where she worked at a local shoe factory where she lost her hearing due to lack of safety equipment and later found great fulfillment in domestic housekeeping. She formed deep bonds with the families she served, eventually working across generations for her longtime employers.

Katherine was a faithful, long-serving member of the Wildwood Church of God under the leadership of the late Pastor Austin H. Taylor and the late Pastor Percival Wallace, Sr. She truly cherished being in the presence of the Saints and the House of the Lord.

Katherine loved her family tremendously and was a generous host who enjoyed cooking, gardening and engaging in long conversations on her porch. Her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed and loved. At the age of 67, Katherine was honored to step in and raise her granddaughter, Donna Ann Moss.

Katherine was preceded in death by two of her children in infancy; her former husband, Jessie Lee Labor; and her 17 siblings Katherine being the youngest of them all
