Edward Jay Reed, affectionately known as Ed, was born on September 19, 1961, in Lake City, Florida, to Mary Eva and the late J. B. Reed. He was a devoted husband to Lola Reed and a loving father to his children. Ed was educated in the Columbia County School System and made a career as a Construction Dry-Waller, contributing to significant projects across Florida and Georgia.
Ed was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. His favorite song was 'Always and Forever' by Heatwave, which resonated with his love for life and family.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Reed, and children Tawana Johnson (Bruce) and Edward Davis (Ashley), both residing in Lake City, FL. He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Ronkeiria Woods (Felix), and three great-grandchildren. His mother, Mary Eva Moultrie, and siblings Nadine Jones, Avon Hambrick, Gertrude Wills, Earnestine Green, and Erma Jean Reed, along with brothers Howard Hambrick and Lucky Hambrick, mourn his passing. Ed is also remembered by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including his special friend Louis Britt.
Ed is predeceased by his father, J. B. Reed, his son Simeon Kendricks, and his siblings Willie James Hambrick, Jerome Reed, Milton (Tommy) Hambrick, Billy Reed, Patricia Hambrick-MaGill, and Linda Albertie.
